Battery Box

Spent some time cleaning out and making good the battery box.

Towards the rear of the box there was the remnants of a power adapter.

This could be seen from underneath.

Which also cut into the tool panel carpet on the second seat row.

This was easily removed with a pair of adjustable spanners. The hole cut into the toe panel was then blanked off with a rubber grommet. Planning of replacing the toe panel carpet at some point which should then complete the job.

Attention then turned to cleaning out the battery box. The base and sides were given a thorough degrease and clean.

The holes from previous modifications and mount points were then sealed off with rubber grommets.

And again from below.

Rather then respraying the bottom tray, thought it would be better to cover the entire bottom of the battery box with a 1mm thick sheet of rubber nitrile. This was tricky in that the bottom of the box was neither square nor flat. Cut outs were made for the floor venting and mounts for the battery clamps.

Image below showing the front of the box. The holes have since been filled with rubber grommets.

The battery was then loaded back into the battery box and a new battery clamp (MUC7513) and J-bolts (STC307) fitted. Plain flat washers (WC106041) and M6 locking nuts (GHF212) to keep it all together.

The terminals were then connected. Before the covers were replaced, a liberal amount of electrical was used.

Road side tools have been loaded including jacks, wheel nuts, wooden blocks, wrench, etc...
