Roof Sealing

Determined a little while ago that water was getting in between the seams off the roof sheets. So out with the Sikaflex.

Cleaned up the roof seams with some methylated spirits and then masked off the roof sections with some low tack frog tape.

As the image below shows, there is quite a gap that allowed the water to get through.

Applied bundles of sealant along each length in turn. Then followed along with a plastic packing piece to both force in the sealant and provide a neat finish to the masking tape edge. Then kids helped by providing a continuous supply of tissue to clean off the excess sealant and holding rubbish bags to dump the tissues and pulled off masking tape. The whole task being made easier by the use of some steps and a raised platform.

Always find these sorts of jobs a little stressful as there is a time pressure and no "undo" option. Anna made that comment that Daddy was too stressed for swear words.

Anyway, the images above and below show the finished result. Really pleased with it.

The kids giving it a thumbs up too for a "seal" of approval.
