New Year 2020

Over the New Year break undertook a few really minor fixes.

Aerial Clamp
Replaced the radio aerial clamp and changed the bolts/washers. They were a little corroded.

Coolant Tank
Ever since replacing the coolant at the end of last year, wanted to give the coolant tank a deep clean.

Clean up of the coolant expansion tank:
  • Pump out coolant from expansion tank. Drain off.
  • Remove expansion tank
  • Using a mixture of sand and brake cleaner, gave the tank a really good shake down.
  • Thoroughly rinsed out.
  • One of the mounting bolts sheared off so replace all the bolts, nuts and washers with new ones.
  • Put new coolant in.

Foot Pedals
Bit of a treat and vanity. Replaced the clutch, brake and accelerator pedal rubbers for new ones.

Accelerator pedal - 11H1781L
Brake pedal - SKE500060
Clutch pedal - NRC9224

Handbrake Warning Light
The handbrake warning light was not coming on when the handbrake was engaged.

Identified that the switch underneath the handbrake boot cover had broken. Peeling back the handbrake boot cover noticed that the connector was hanging.

Bit more ferreting and discovered that the terminal switch was broken.

Order a new part and fitted (EEP191L ) and fitted

Broken and replacement new switch side by side.

Easy swap out and now handbrake warning lights are functional.

Front screen wash jet
The wash jet for the front screen was never really doing its best.

Replaced the wash jet for a new one. Not a trivial job as much of the dash had to be removed. The retaining clip also had to be replaced. A complete pain to fit.

All good now though with much better screen coverage.

Wiper park switch
The windscreen wipers are not returning to their home position very well.

Replaced the wiper park switch - LR057182. However, this is not really helped. Suspect that there is play in the spindle shafts. Job for another day.
